Joyce Kimutai is a Principal Meteorologist and Climate Scientist at the Kenya Meteorological Department. Her research has increasingly focused on the attribution of extreme weather and climate events, particularly floods and droughts in East Africa. She also participated as an IPCC Lead Author for the Special Report on Climate Change and Land – Ch. 3 Desertification. She is currently the IPCC alternate focal point for Kenya. Joyce has worked with several stakeholders in raising climate risk awareness and co-production of climate information to inform climate policy in East Africa.
