Hans Joachim (John) Schellnhuber is the Director General of the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), a leading global research institute focused on sustainability and systemic risk. He previously served as the founding Director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and as Research Director of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research. His work has contributed to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007. Hans Joachim Schellnhuber is also the founder of Bauhaus Earth, a non-profit initiative focused on climate-resilient built environments. He holds a doctorate in physics from the University of Regensburg.
