Aloe Blacc is an American singer, songwriter, producer, and musician whose work spans soul, R&B, hip-hop, pop, and folk. Raised on salsa, merengue, and cumbia, he drew early influence from socially conscious hip-hop before later embracing soul and folk-rock traditions. He released his debut album Shine Through on Stones Throw in 2006, followed by Good Things (2010), led by I Need a Dollar, which achieved international commercial success. Alongside his solo career, he is a member of the hip-hop duo Emanon and continues to release music focused on social themes and positive cultural impact.
